i am very interested in buying products from the crafters in the areas - i think that it would be a brilliant idea to just add a photo of some of the items next to crafters name to give idea of quality and look of their work. I will definitely order from Vondeling because they have a website where i can see their work. Thanks

We recently visited the Baviaanskloof driving a 4x4 vehicle. On our return trip we decided to follow the T2 route from Steytlerville to Patensie. The route is very badly signposted although the map was very good. However, it is the condition of the pass into Grootrivierpoort and through the Wilderness area to the Telkom tower that most concerned us. This road is almost impassable for even a 4x4 vehicle. When compared with the main T1 route it is no more than a river cutting and really should be closed until remedial work can be carried out. We met family going in the opposite direction who were in complete shock and looked like they were about to be sick because of the journey undertaken. To simply say the road is in bad condition is a complete fabrication, it isn't a road and it really detracted from our whole experience which was otherwise fantastic.

This must be one of the most beautiful farms in the country. If ever you are travelling through the Baviaans, make a point of stopping in at Ysrivier Campsite (Kudu Kaya). you wont regret it. The owners are friendly big hearted people, and Ysrivier is a wonderful springboard for anyone wanting to spend time in the Baviaans.

Once you have been there you just want to go back, ideal for the outdoor , camping type. But you need a vehicle with high clearance , Rooihoek is just stunning to have a swim or do some bass fising.

I have visited the Baviaanskloof reserve on numerous occassions and have found it to be one of the most beautiful places in the Cape. An awe inspiring sight. Hope it will remain unspoilt. Keep it green!

If you are into packing up your motorbike and exploring South Africa's great outback gravel roads and destinations, this place is a must. I go touring quite ofen, and always start my trips by going through the B/Kloof first. (from Port Elizabeth) Final words: DUMBSTRUCK BY THE INTENSE BEAUTY.
